My Breeding Project Blog - Frizzled and Laced Colored Egg Layer

I've been looking everywhere for fizzles. Any breed/color except the Polish & Serama ones (they aren't cold hardy).
Would prefer a started pullet (to be aquired now) but will take chicks or even fertile eggs (to be aquired in April/may).
Im in NJ & can pickup locally or I will pay for shipping.
Please pm me with what you have available & price.
All the hatcheries I have looked at are sold out for 2014 already or don't have any avail till August.

I've never shipped before, but I could. I've got eggs going into lock down right now. Not sure how they will be. I've got a started cockerel as well who is 3 months, but no pullers.

My frizzles are standard size Cochin frizzles. I will update my blog after this hatch.

I'd definitely be interested. Let me know what hatches. I can't have roosters in my town :(
but if you hatch frizzled pullets I'd definitely will be interested.

Any update on your hatch? Are you getting the Frizzled chicks that you hoped for.
I would like to start a similar project next year. I have 4 pure Ameraucanas (blue eggs) and am getting a Frizzled Bantam Cochin Roo. I only have 1 smooth Bantam Cochin pullet for him so I am thinking I will add a couple AMs to his pen when he is mature to see what I get. It is my understanding it takes one generation to add in the Frizzle gene. Then by selecting only Frizzled blue egg laying pullets to be covered by a Pure AM Roo I should have both genes set within 2 to 3 generations.
I just love my Frizzles and I really enjoy getting blue eggs. So what could be better that a Frizzled blue egg layer? :)

I am getting lots of frizzles! I have a standard Cochin roo over my hens. I hatch probably 75% frizzles from him. I haven't kept any to maturity, but an in contact with my buyers. I did add a frizzled Easter egger roo, so I should always get blue eggs from him. We will see! Eventually I will keep some lol!

Nice :) A few of my AMs are petite and thought the size match up on the bantam cochin rooster over them would be a good match. I think a Standard cochin Roo might be too much for them. I do plan to bring back LF AM size through breeding back to pure Ameraucanas.

I had all my hens before I decided to do this lol. And well, they are all rather beefy! I started with a bantam frizzle, and he got the job done, but all the chicks got his size.

LOL. Same here. I have all my hens already but my AMs are pretty petite and I now have gotten a Bantam Frizzled Cochin Roo to put over my smooth cochin girls so a couple of my AM girls will join his harem when he is mature enough to do the job. I'm sure he won't complain.
