My broody hens efforts werent in vein

I really dont think that they are her bio babies b/c I had 24 girlies laying at the time. We just didnt collect eggs for a few days and she just decided to set on them I guess.


IDK why she died, that was only my guess. This was my first time w/ a broody hen....I have another broody now so I'm babying her LOL

i'm so sorry about your broody. Poor girl. i have had a broody sit for almost the entire 21 days and not get off to eat unless i took her off. When the time got close, i put her in a separate hutch with food and water, but she would not budge until everyone hatched. i tried to put food up to her beak, but no go. i have another experienced broody that will let me feed her on the nest. i too am wondering if she passed from not eating, or if it could have been something else. In any case, it's very sad. But glad you got some babies to carry on her legacy.
