I have a 7 week old button named Chuck. For the past couple days when we pick her up and hold her she freaks out and white stuff squirts out of her butt. We just thought we were wrong and she was having sperm and she was a boy. It started getting bad so we looked it up and we thought it was a problem called vent gleet so we quarantined her. Then we put her outside to dust bathe and they haven't been able to go out and dust bathe because of the smoke. I grabbed her to take her in and the white stuff squirted out again and a huge red bulge came out of her butt! And it is most likely prolapse! We hear they most likely die!

We've been checking her and the bulge keeps going in and out. We felt her stomach and we totally feel the shape of an egg. Everytime it comes out we dab it with a wet q tip but it keeps coming out! We've just been massaging her

@Nabiki 's got the right idea. If the prolapse won't stay in, try again with a little corticosteroid (almost any topical steroid is okay for this)—it will reduce swelling and promote healing. Good luck to you and your bird!

No, to me it sounds like she became egg bound and proplapsed. You need to get the stuck egg out or she will likely pass with in 48 hours. Start by separating her, and giving her extra calcium. You can give this to her in calcium pills crushed up in her food, or you can get a liquid calcium from a feed store. I don't think I can help much more, I am sorry you aha not deal with this! I'm sorry about your quail.
I recently had a quail with a prolapsed vent. Unfortunately, she died. She had other problems too though. Hopefully yours will be okay :fl

I didn't realize that your bird was trying to lay. If she is egg bound, you need to get that egg out. I have had one hen that was egg bound. I soaked her warm (about quail body temp or a couple of degrees warmer) water and gently massaged her vent. After about 20 minutes of this, I put her back in her hospital pen and about 10-15 minutes later, she got the egg out.

If you can't get the egg out, she will die.

She acts fine 🙂 she eats drinks walks she's normal but when we pick her up the bulge pops out a little. Yesterday we tapped a wet q-tip on and the water would just make the bulge go in. We've been just leaving her alone. She looks like she's trying to lay but the egg won't come out.
We don't have any quail medicine so we don't have anything to put on her. The bulge only pops out when she squirms and pushes.
Thank you for all your help!

Is she pooping? If she's egg bound, she won't poop either.
