My cat

I had a 14 year old Scottish Fold that sleeps on the front porch every night. I went to feed my cat and she wasn't there. Looked for her and couldn't find her. The next day she wasn't in her bed didn't come when I fed her. After two days I widened my search. I saw a buzzard in a tree near my house and looked around and sadly found my Bradford.

My question is what could have killed my cat. There was a bunch of fur torn out of her hind quarters and her tail was not there but amongst the fur I did find her tail. I didn't see any other part of the body missing but it was hard to look. There were maggots in her mouth and the tempreture had been in the lower 90s for two days. I live in Paradise California. Could you give me any ideas?

I thought maybe a raccoon but why didn't they eat the body?

so sorry about your cat, maybe his age made him less able to flee from predators.
