My chick doesn’t like to be held

I barely touch him and he screams
It's hard to know if you are 'hurting' him because of pin feathers...or he's just a drama queen.
Back when I handled my chicks way more than I do now, I had a couple lt brahma pullets that never shut up after holding them for awhile, most calmed down pretty quick, they never did....then when they were older they would come up to me and want to be touched and even picked up....it was crazy!

Most of my chickens will scream bloody murder when I lift them off the roost. Especially if I do that closer to dawn. They are pretty docile when I grab them at night but there is still the occasional screamer.
I'll have to get a friend help me make a video so I can post it. It is a blood curdling scream.

My two Penedesencas will scream bloody murder if I just make eye contact with them.

And in the spirit of the holidays, Yes, Virginia, there is a “chicken scream.” There’s also a definite “chicken growl.” I’ve even got a very docile “Chewbacca growling” Ameraucana pullet. :lau

What variety of Penedesencas do you have?

My two little weirdos are Partridge. They are such strange little birds, but I’ll guarantee you one thing, they will NEVER be caught by anything with four feet or with two wings. One of them, Carmen, will come up to me and let me pick her up, but she is chattering at me the entire time. Elena, nope! She wants nothing to do with me.

They do prefer to be aloof. I love them. I once had a few Partridge boys but I've only raised Blacks for many years. Of over 30 breeds I've raised, these are my absolute favorite and may never have any other breed.
