he arrived yesterday and had yellowish poo caked to his butt ive been washing it regularly and yesterday he was eating, running around and drinking fine but when i got up today hewas on his back barely breathing. ive given him some water with an eye dropper and he drinks fine i also have given him a few drops of poly vi sol but nothing seems to be working he isnt eating today and i dont know what to do to help him

It is a sad fact of life that not all newborns, of whatever species, are going to make it. The best thing is probably just to make him as comfortable as possible and let nature take its course. There is probably a lot you can do anyway.

They often get pasty butt from shipping and the temperature changes related to that.

Mix some of his crumbles in the water - make it just thicker than water but barely. You can also put a little karo or honey in the water for some energy. Give him this. The energy should help him get on his feet. If it doesn't, then likely something was wrong with him from birth.

Youll likely have to encourage him to drink and eat. did you get other chicks? Is he three days old, four now? If he'll stand, put him with another buddy and trail your fingers through their food to encourage him to eat. You'll have to teach him to drink, too.

Yes threehorses is right. Please don't give up on your little chick, shipping is very hard on them and they need supportive care like threehorses suggested.
Remember they are babies and you are now their mother hen and only way for them to live.
Keep up the good work and do everything threehorses says above !
Good Luck !
Oh, and when you go by the feed store next get some electrolytes with vitamins mixture for the water, that helps a lot too!!

Darnit, I'm sorry. But at least for his short little life he was in a good place with kind hands to try to help him. Thank you for trying. My condolences, and sending hugs your way, for your loss.
