My chicken cant stand up?? Falling over?? Please help

Hi there,

I am in a similar situation with me hen who didn't come out've coop for a few days. I thought she was depressed as her best buddy hen had died.

I pulled her out and monitored. Her conditioned worsened with her stumbling and not being able to walk. I them discovered a few days later she had lice/mites or lice :(

I treated her for lice/mites 6 days ago and she has been on antibiotics for 3 days and still no improvement in her walking/standing.

She looks very sad, only eats for like 1 minutes. I need to force her to have water.

I am wondering if you boy recovered? nd how long it took. Im wondering if we should take her to the vet tmro and put her down :(

At times she times she is perky and alert but often looks sad :( and often we think she is dead- but we can see her breathing still. :(

There are several types of lice and they also suffer with mites. I find the best way to detect lice is to handle your chicken for 10-15 minutes. If they have them you will usually be scratching in no time.
The blood sucking type will make your chook anaemic and go down hill fairly quickly. If you think your chicken is up to it , give them a warm bath , blow dry and then dust them.
I go out at night and dust them while they are on the perch. You must dust again 10 days later and most importantly , remove all their bedding and spray the entire coop with a residual insecticide like coopex.
