Hello everyone, I am new here. One of My chickens just stopped moving and then I noticed that she couldn't move one of her legs and that leg was a bit swollen than the other one, I believe it is due to cold and so I want to know is there hope that she will walk again and what can I do to make that possible. By the way she eats and drinks water fine, her stool is normal and other than that she is active

Can you take pictures? Perhaps she’s sprained it or maybe even broken it. Most of the time chickens will still walk around even if they have a small injury that causes them to limp. I would isolate her in a small area so she doesn’t have to move and can rest and hopefully the injury can fix itself.

I agree, get some pictures of the swollen leg including the foot. Look for any redness, breaks in the skin, and any scab on the bottom of the foot. Separate her near food and water to force rest.

I have one that is having trouble walking, on one of her legs. and she doesn't roost, just stays below. I checked her leg, and it's not broken, or dislocated. it looks and feels fine, but she won't put an weight on it. I move her out of the coop, nto the run in the am, and back into the coop at night. I just don't see any or feel any trouble with the leg. she's only about 2 mos, and is a silkie. any advice?

My silkie had issues with a bad leg on day 1. I separated her from the rest of the flock. After trying numerous rehabilitation efforts, for my chick I used blue painters tape to flatten its toes and then taped the two legs together. I had my chick do physical therapy in a plastic deli cup with pine bedding. After 2 weeks of this therapy, I just discovered my silkie standing (with taped feet) and sleeping normally with her head and beak tucked nudged between her wings.

Hang in there! My silkie is 7.5 weeks old and still working towards recovery.
