My chicken died last night

It is very possible that she ate some bad feed. When I cleaned the coop yesterday I found a clump of food that looked moldy. I removed it. That is another reason I'm thinking I should stop wetting the food. Thanks for your answers.

Yes, that is a danger with wetting the food. It can get moldy if not eaten and/or removed the same day. If you want to try it, maybe layer crumbles may appeal to them more? Also, I'm so sorry about your little hen.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our first chicken this morning. 8 months old and just dropped dead for no apparent reason. I'll be keeping my eye on the others and hope they are all o.k.

I'm sorry for your loss as well! Wow, I know how you feel. I have felt so 'yucky' all day and I'm so worried about my girls that I'm taking the rest of the day off from work so that I can be sure I have every inch of their coop spic and span. I haven't had a good block of time with them since I had a health issue of my own that prevented me from monitoring them more closely. Hopefully, all will be well. You have no idea why she died, Rocky?
