My Chicken Died Today

sometimes you have to have a good cry. maybe other things are going on in your life that needed you to be strong and the passing of a chicken was just the release you needed.

not saying you don't miss her.

Maybe you should look at it as a gift she gave you

I understand, I really do. I still tear up over my Hawkeye, who died almost two years ago. He was my special pal. And there have been others since....

It's weird, Chloe didn't really associate with my other chickens (3 rhode island reds; 1 bantam chochin rooster).
In fact, they'd pick on her...that's why I originally brought her inside my house. Literally my pet.
Sadly, my other hens are fairly aloof...although they still follow me around the yard for grub.
Chloe, on the other hand, didn't seem to be motivated purely by food...it was a honest-to-God exchange of affection...but who knows, maybe I'm making more of it than I should.

At least you had more time with her than you would have if she had been like the others...And who says you can't have a pet chicken? You are very lucky that you had such a sweet little girl.

I can not have chickens in the house. There are some in the barn that always regards me as their savior and caretaker.

They all come a running when it is treat time and for that I feel charmed and blessed.

I know how you feel. I'm starting to tear up because it's almost been a year since my darling Sandy passed away. She was 1 of my first 2 chickens. I still miss her and I always will. I still cry over loosing my other friends to, but she hit home first. I'm starting to cry again now.

I am so sorry about your little chicken

. Sentient beings have the capacity for great feelings of love and no one can tell you not to feel sad or cry. All our pets are treated and loved like members of our family--like children and go to great lengths to keep them happy and healthy. That may seem a bit much for some but our feelings are just that--ours. We can do as we please with them. I think feeling sad is normal and shows you are a compassionate human being. My condolences.
