She was a beautiful girl. And that was a lovely name you gave her.

She was a beautiful girl-such wonderful feather markings and color. It is hard for anyone who hasn't known chickens as individual personalities to understand how sad it is to lose a dear friend like Dark Cloud. Non-chicken people think, "Well it was just a chicken." But your BYC friends understand how sad you must feel and wish we could do something to help. They say only time makes the pain lessen, but maybe your other chicks will at least be a distraction while you are hurting. Wish we could make you a nice cup of something hot (maybe with a little extra zip added) and sit with you to talk about Dark Cloud and the great memories you have of her. One thing I did to commemorate losing my little girl was to bury her in her favorite flowerbed where she loved to sneak away and kick all the mulch out on the lawn. You will have comforting memories of Dark Cloud forever. Take care of yourself and give yourself something nice, as a goodbye gift from Dark Cloud who would want to thank you for making her life so special. Hugs, Debby

Its still hard to think about her and talk about her! Everytime i look at my youtube video I start crying and my husband Danny just wraps me up in his arms and holds me till i calm down. He hasn't been around chickens as long as I have but he's starting to see and understand how awesome they really are.

Hi Dark Cloud is a beathiful name and she is beautiful - I say "is" because she is yours forever - she is special to you as some of ours are very special to us (if not all of our babies) - be proud to say she was and is yours - I hope you can find comfort in all of the messages sent to you - we can all cry for our losses and it is something to be proud of as the saying goes "It is better to have love and lost than to have never to have loved at all" - be proud of the fact that you gave her the best life she ever could have wished for - with you!
