Hello and thanks for helping!

I acquired four chickens when I purchased this house a few months back and the large white one who previously ran the coop has become extremely, um, lazy. She will make it in and out of the coop every day and occasionally walk the pen but generally she just sits. She has even lost her fear of me.

1) What type of bird, age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) I don't know the type or the age. I does seem lighter than the others.

2) What is the behavior, exactly. Very lethargic and too lazy (or hurting) to even try and walk away.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? About a week
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. Not that I can see
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. I am not aware of anything.

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Watermelon, pellets, chicken scratch, carrots, apples, cucumbers, cantaloupe, broccoli, cauliflower, and the same fresh filtered well water my family drinks.

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Haven't identified her poop from the other chickens'. I haven't seen any bloody poop in the pen.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Nothing so far.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? I want to understand if she needs a vet and treat her if she doesn't.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. I'll send a pic of her sitting on her fluffy ass.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use. They have a wooden chicken coop. They use straw bedding.

Welcome to BYC!

How does her crop feel?
I'd cut out all the treats for now and only feed the complete chicken feed...no scratch even til you figure out what her problem is.

When was the last time she laid an egg?

Not sure what to look for. Maybe softer? She is my fluffiest!

I certainly will go to straight feed. There is old scratch in the coop. Do I need to get that out?

We have four chickens and four nests and they all in the same nest. Not a noticeable drop in overall production either.

I'm checking her legs as another post had a speculated that she hurt a leg. No visible limping though.

Welcome to BYC. It can take time to examine a chicken for signs and symptoms. Do you have any idea how old she could be? As I watch many of my own hens now starting their yearly molt, I notice how they are hanging out in shady spots, not eating as much as usual and not as active. Egg laying and other reproductive disorders such as internal laying, egg yolk peritonitis, and salpingitis, as well as oviduct cancer can be common in hens 2 and older. Crop impaction, worms, coccidiosis, or mites can be common as well. I would look her over for mites and lice, and some mites only come on the chickens at night. Look at her droppings for anything unusual. I agree that chicken feed is the best nutrition that you can give her, but sometimes in hot weather, watermelon can be a good source of fluids. Pick her up, feel for any weight loss in her breast area, look her over for mites and lice, and make sure that she is drinking fluids. Offer her some chopped egg with her usual feed. Scratch has only 1/2 the protein she needs.

The crop should fill up all day and be full in the evening.
Then first thing in the morning check it again to make sure it is empty.

Do you smell anything funny coming from her mouth?
I'm wondering if she has a slow or sour crop.
