My hen has one side of her nose damaged and doesn't appear to be able to breath out of the nostril. It appears to be crusted over. I have been trying to soften it up in hopes of helping her breath out of the side. I don't' know what she did to cause such damage. I suspect she jumps of the top roost and banged into the walls. I have since lowered there roosts. I brought her in to treat her again, and the other side is plugged up. She is having a touch time to breath. Can chickens breath out of there mouths. She is 5.5yrs old. Any suggestions. Thanks.

are you sure she injured it? or perhaps she is sick. If you arent positive she actually injured it, I would probably do a search on respiratory illnesses and possibly treat her with an antibiotic.

She doesn't really have a nostril on that side anymore. Its like it has rotted showing cartridge, and cake with possibly hardened food. Its hard to explain. I have been using peroxide and a cue-tip to try to soften it up in hopes in unplugging that side. She had to of injured it.
