Hello!

What a way to introduce myself! I am Laurie in Massachusetts with 6 girls who I purchased on 4/30/12 from Essex Grain in Topsfield, MA. I have 3 Barred Plymouth Rocks and 3 Golden Laced Wyandottes. They have transitioned to their coop and have adjusted well. Yesterday I noticed one of my GLW's crop was enlarged. She seemed fine. I felt her crop, it was just squishy. But today when I raised the door to let them out she came out and she was regurgitating. Her crop seems to have gone down since late afternoon yesterday.

Can someone tell me what to do? I'm guessing she's not sick, just trying to get out what isn't going down...

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Laurie

Sounds like she has a sour crop. I've heard you can try mineral oil, but that didn't work for me. Try posting in the Emergencies, diseases thread. Sorry I can't help. A lot of peeps will cut it to release what is in there, not me. I put my chicken down. It appeared to be suffering and I was unsure how to do the save a crop thing. Good luck I hope all goes well for you.

Hello and welcome to BYC! Good luck with your hen.

Hi and welcome to BYC. I have heard that Apple cider vinegar in the water can really help. About one tablespoon per gallon of water.
Its' good for all the chickens. Also try feeding some plain yogurt. Good luck.
