Hi! I got 12-week pullets yesterday,
today, I noticed that one of my birds is walking strangely, she is keeping her feet parallel to the ground instead of picking them up properly. she is walking jerkily, she looks like she is limping but not badly. she looks like she is fine otherwise (clear eyes/vent/nose, regular looking poop, etc.) could she have been hurt when the people at the feed store were taking them out of the coop? it doesn't seem to have bothered her a ton because she is eating, drinking, sleeping, and frolicking around with the rest of them.

help?

Look at the bottoms of her feet. Are there any sores or black scabs? Are her leg scales flush against the leg and not lifting up? Look for any greenish or grey bruises on the legs. Do you see any swelling? When she stands still, are her feet farther apart than four to five inches?

I don't see anything that you described. maybe it could have been that she was hurt when the chicken staff took her out of the enclosure at the feed store? they picked the chickens up by the legs. I know this puts them into a trance/calms them, but could they have been too rough?

Absolutely! I would have wanted To knock that worker out for doing that! It makes me so angry when people think less of chickens with that “It’s just a chicken” attitude! I Hope your sweet girl will recover soon.

Feed store are famous for selling EE. If you were to buy a true Ameraucana, it would be much more expensive. I have 2 EE! I adore both of them and they love me back by each laying a blue egg! Enjoy those precious chickens! Good luck with Nutmeg. If you see her worsening, then give us a shout. For now, I would just let her take it easy and be on guard. Have Fun!

It's certainly possible she suffered a strain when that idiot yanked her legs out from under her. What an idiot. He shouldn't be handling chickens. I would have friendly chat with the manager.

She's probably experiencing pain. Baby aspirin, 81 grains, can help with the pain and also heal the inflamed tissue. Give her one in the morning and one at bedtime until you see her walking normally.
