I've tried contacting vets and I've had no luck. Either they don't do chickens or don't pick up the phone.I would also be worried about a widespread systemic issue here, be it from reproductive problems, viral disease, or something else. She presents as having neurological issues to me based on the picture posted - viral causes, neuro deficits from toxins or liver or kidney involvement, or if she does have a reproductive issue, it’s possible she’s septic because of it. If she’s internally laying it’s certainly a possibility. If she’s not improving with supportive care and you want to try to save her, a vet visit would be your best bet. Barring that, a broad spectrum antibiotic as @azygous has mentioned would definitely be something to add into treatment if it’s not already.
Personally, if she were my bird, prognosis is poor-grave and I would probably cull her if she continues to decline, but since we don’t have the bird in front of us to assess, we can only guess based off your description and pictures.
Her eyes look fineHow do her eyes look?
I'm kind of new to backyard chickens. I'm sorry for all the clutter. I just need some help. You have a total of three different threads going on this one Cream Legbar. I do understand how upsetting it is to have a hen that's sick and nothing seems to be working to make her better. But it's counter productive to have threads all over the place and it confuses all of us.
I'm going to ask the mods to combine your three threads so it's easier on all of us to follow. It will be much easier for you to check on new comments and this way you won't be as likely to miss something someone has thought of that could help your hen.
That said, your hen is declining. I am going to guess something like a chronic reproductive infection or internal laying is going on. There isn't likely anything that can be done for her in that event.
Has anyone discussed getting this hen on an oral antibiotic?
