This is my 'house chicken', not one in the chicken house. I've had her 3-4 weeks and she was in a pen with roosters when I bought her. Would her eggs be fertile? I left the egg in the nest I had fixed for her just yesterday. Talk about cutting the timing close!

I'm so excited. DH is off with the camera and I can't even record this great event till he returns.

Eggs would typically be fertile for up to 4 weeks, but if this is her very first egg, I doubt it would be fertile; sometimes first eggs are fertilized, but typically, not. Congrats!!!

Thank you everyone. I see she has gone back to her nest so I'm wondering about broodyness. I haven't gone over to see if she goes into 'protective mode', she's sitting sideways in the cradle and doesn't look comfortable. She's a Polish so I don't expect her to go broody. Maybe she just likes sitting there.
