My chicken swallowed a Water Balloon!

My daughter dropped a water balloon on the floor last night and before I could get to it my chicken sucked it down. She seems fine and I've read several posts where people say these things will pass, but I've seen that I should maybe give her Olive Oil to help it through?? How much? How long does it usually take something to pass through? -- totally new to this and I have ONE spoiled only chicken. I know nothing about chickens!

Giving oil for things like this often helps the owner more than the bird The risks of giving oil tend to turn me away from suggesting it (it could accidentally go down the breathing tube instead of the esophagus. Many birds will pass a water balloon just fine, but just keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't stop eating, drinking, or pooping. Also look for lethargy and of course you can keep an eye on the poop to see when it passes!
