Okay so I have 6 backyard chickens, free range except at night when they are cooped. Well they have been laying TONS of eggs, every site I have been on says they will lay one a day. This is FALSE for my chickens, I went out yesterday at 9am got 4 eggs, I did not get back out there till today at 3pm (so 18 hours) and when I checked their coop, there were NINETEEN eggs, how in the world did 6 chickens lay 19 eggs in 18 hours???? This is not the first time I have found large amounts of eggs, checked one night last week no eggs, by morning there were 10 eggs. Anyone have this happen to them?

Is there any possibility that someone is pranking you? Upon occasion a hen might lay 2 eggs in a 24 hour period, but it is physically impossible for 6 hens to lay 19 eggs in an eighteen hour period.

No there is not possibility for pranking we live near no one and my yard is completely fenced my 6 foot privacy fencing. its so weird all I can think is maybe my husband saw the 4 eggs yesterday morning but forgot to gather them and my chickens laid 15 eggs but thats still mean someone laid 3 eggs in 18 hours.....

It really makes no common sense to me and is kinda freaking me out a little LOL

It's either your loosing it,LOL

. Statistically impossible to have all your hens laid multiple eggs a day.

I've experienced occasional 2 eggs from one or 2 hens when they are new layers but that's it. But what do I know I only owned chicken for a year.

Someone is pranking here. It is impossible to get more than 2 eggs from a hen in a 24 hour period. The probability of event getting all your hens to lay 2 at the same time is extremely low if not impossible. I have had 50 plus production chickens and never got more than 54 eggs in a day and that was once.
