my chickens are still eating their eggs

i just feed them regular chicken feed and i’ve added some calcium to it last week
my neighbor feeds his chickens the same feed but has never had this problem
the chickens are always well fed i make sure to keep the feed box always full
i also give them food scraps from home alongside their food
Try switching to a high protein layer feed, it's likely a lack of protein.
It also could be tight quarters, boredom etc.

it can’t be tight they arent confined they have quite a big coop and access to the outside where they forage around whatever they like
someone told me to try trimming their upper beak a bit so i think i’m considering this but would it really stop them from breaking the egg ?

Eating eggs is very tough to stop. We occasionally have egg eaters, and in the really tough cases, we end up getting rid of the bird (usually by selling it).

I’ll recommend
1. no treats, only feed. If you can, give them a higher protein feed (such as an all flock). If you must give them treats, then use their feed as a treat- wet it down to a batter or oatmeal consistency, sprinkle some seeds or fruit bits on top- they will devour it and still get proper nutrition.

2. If you don’t want to give them a new feed, you can up their protein by using canned or boiled meat - just watch the salt (low/no salt for them bc too much can be harmful). You feathered omnivores will devour any animal protein. Fish food, or dry cat food or catfish pellets used to feed pond fish can all be used a pinch, but not long term, and only as supplement, not as main feed.

3. Collect eggs frequently.

4. Use A LOT of fake eggs in the nests - each of our nests have 3 fake eggs in them. Wooden, or ceramic, or even plastic Easter eggs (filled with sand or some kind of weight), or golf balls all can work for your needs. They peck, but get no reward.

5. Inspect beak or the birds to try to determine which ones are the egg eaters. Yolk on beak is s clear sign, or dried raw egg on their feathers.

Good luck.

scraps they get from home are usually whatever we eat so it contains some chicken ground beef and protein in general but i’ve limited scraps so i’m only giving them feed and occasionally some food from home
i will try some fake eggs too

my chickens have recently started eating their eggs. there seems to be no nutritional problems regarding their feed so i installed rolling nest boxes in order to stop them from accessing the egg so they stopped laying in the nesting boxes and started laying the eggs randomly around the coop and eating them. they’re really driving me crazy.
I don’t know if anyones asked this, but have you tried fake plastic or wood eggs?
