I started out a few days ago with the mash in the feeder. They couldn't give a rats behind about it, then there was the bees. So I emptied the feeder, and started throwing the mash and the crumbles on the ground. No interest in that either. But they do love the scratch though!

This morning I got the idea to soak the mash in water for a little bit, and gave it to them in a bowl. Viola! it was gone in a minute or two.

Is there anything wrong with feeding them this way?

No. I feed about half of a days ration wet. The rest they either find out ranging or fill up on the dry I have in the coop.
