My chicken's broody, so I just gave in... (**Both Ducklings Are Out**)

At What day should I candle these for development?

My spouse (under whose name I am posting here) says that when he was 13 or 14 he had a little Bantam Rhode Island Red that hatched out 4-5 ducklings. He says that everything was fine until they would head over to the water trough to take a swim, and then she would completely lose her mind trying to keep them from going in the water.

I can just imagine what kind of huge, squawking fit one of our silly momma hens would throw over something like that!!! Way too funny!!!

vfem, this should be a very interesting experience for you!! After arousing everyone's curiosity here, you'd better keep us posted and give us a pic to look at once in a while!!!

OK, I got some shots for now...

I'm still wondering if I should just leave them be the 30 days, or should I try to candle them in a week to make sure they are even going to make it? I see more people with incubators on here then anything! Kinda leaves ya wondering?

I have 2 incubators going, but my Silkie decided to go broody today, so I took 7 eggs that weren't in the incubator and stuffed them under her. I fully expect her to do a better job than I do!

You guys are making me feel so much better about this! I was so worried everyone would say its a wasted effort. Thank you, you've made this very fun for me.... and even my daughter has to go pet her everyday and say "good chick N"

(I even have my husband concerned about her and the eggs... and he's not a huge fan of my birds!)
