My chicken's broody, so I just gave in... (**Both Ducklings Are Out**)

It is agony waiting!!!!!!

They are due at 28 days on monday.... 30 days would put them next wenseday. So VERY Soon.

I'm planning on candling that slow developer today.... the chickens are still sitting on them (I have 3 broody silkies right now!!! ARGH!) and haven't kicked it out, so it still may be ok! This is so exciting!!!!

However, when I thought about going out earlier and getting them there was a hawk sitting on the kid's playhouse next to the coop wathcing them inside. Of course, no one was in the run at the time... they were smart enough to go in. So no free ranging today and probably not tomorrow with him hanging around

I candled all three again today.

VERY dark... all 3 are full where you can only see the airsack on the fat end, and random bits of light here and there until the duckling moves.

Again, #3 concerns me. :|

(Something about #3 since the beginning... but its full and dark... and the chickens sit on it still, no one is kicking it out and rejecting it.)

Now the airsack seems to have gotten larger and has spread over onto the side of the egg. It still covers the fat end, but it down slopes up the side to make it larger then its been previously. There appears to be less room for this duckling inside the egg as there is in the other 2 eggs that seem perfect.

When I move the eggs the inside sloshes around really easily compared to the other 2 as well. I think it even had a musty smell to it compared to the other 2... again my husband tells me I'm imagining things... they all smell the same to him.

Am I just being weird about this? Maybe I should start taking bets on whether or not #3 will hatch. I'm doubting it greatly... though it has proven me wrong and grown this whole time... I still don't have faith in getting 3 ducklings on monday.

Sloshing is never good. I'm with you; I doubt it hatches. But still, hate to be responsible for killing it if it really is developing.

Had a stinky egg in the bator one time. When they go stinky its way more than a musty smell.

No harm in giving #3 a couple more days.

They're due tomorrow... been back and forth from the coop checking all day today in case we had an early one. Nada yet... but I'm EXCITED!!!

Maybe your's have hatched? Maybe pipped?

I'm trying to watch other's hatches right now... mine are still good and NOT hatched. I'm trying to be patient.

Bad news though.... Egg #3 not only stank... but had 2 dark rings going around the shell obviously from the inside round the small point of the egg. It was obviously bacteria and he/she obviously gave up the growth.
