My chicken actually had a soft egg first that she and her sisters ate because I only found the membrane. Today she laid an actual egg and it is 102grams. I'm a little worried for her! She otherwise seems fine but there was a little blood on the egg and in the nest box. I have read this acually may be the result of a calcium deficiency. I just started her on layer feed a few days ago. Anyone with any thought? She also seems to have lost a little weight.

I have one that lays enormous eggs too (see post #8 here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/how-heavy-is-your-egg.1336927/#post-21861849 ). Your egg may be a double yolker. That can sometimes happen with new layers as their system gets everything figured out. It may resolve with time and become a more normal size, or this bird just might lay big eggs always or just sometimes. My bird is 2 1/2 years old and always lays big eggs, she's never prolapsed or gotten bound and, so far does fine with them. A large or mishapen egg can sometime cause a small blood vessel to break during laying, resulting in a bit of blood on the egg, usually this is not something to worry about. I would just keep an eye on her to make sure all is well, and hopefully as time goes on it will become more normal. Or you will just have dinosaur eggs, like mine! Calcium is not likely the problem, that is usually indicated by rough, bumpy eggs, or thin shelled eggs. As long as you have calcium available to them, they should take what they need.

Thank you for the response. I will keep an eye on her. She is a Delaware and I've read that Plymouth Rocks, which Delawares are breed out of, make big eggs so maybe mine will too.
