We have a young Leghorn pullet (approx 35 weeks old) who has been laying for a couple of months now. Everything is great with her laying ability. She's weighing in just shy of 2 kg (last weekend) and eats constantly. But the eggs she lays are bewildering! Normally, a Leghorn's egg is to weight around 55 grams, from everything that I have read. But not my girl....at least 4 days a week she will pop out a giant! I'm talking 85 grams or so. Today, it was a whopping 94 grams! Now I know there is someone who is thinking that its one of our other hen, but, today my son sat outside the coop until she announced to the world that she had laid, and this is what he found. My wife laughing said, "that's like if I gave birth to a 11 lb baby!" We are not complaining, just wondering, "Whats going on?" So tell me.....how big is your egg?
