My chickens hate me!

Thank you :) someone else mentioned petting them after they went up to roost so I actually did this very thing tonight. I went to close their coop and I petted each one and told it good night! As funny as it sounds it's 100% true!
Also when you hold them at night, talk to them so that they can recognize the sound of your voice.

So sorry to hear that, but I do understand. That's why we asked neighbors before we took the roo in to begin with. Kind of funny, here I am thinking you would have an easier time in a small town. So glad we are exchanging info. Thanks for following me. Always nice to learn what life is really like elsewhere instead of false assumptions.

Well you are very welcome! I'll keep in touch! Prob via conversation. Its been nice talking to a LA girl from the BIG E![/QUOTE]

I have a BCM cockrel, had him since he was two weeks old, and found if I held him about 30 seconds more every time I held him, he gets more comfortable with me. I also make soft noises, like (I know it sounds crazy) singing a lullaby. I feel really silly, but it actually calms them. He is now about 3 months old, and I can be away for weeks at a time and then walk right into the coop and pick him up. Last time I came back from an overnight thing, didn't 'say goodnight' to him, he crowed when he saw me walking towards the coop. He is precious, I was worried when he showed signs of sickle feathers, I can't keep a roo. He crows, I am trying to relocate him right now.

Arsenal!!! Thank you! Aren't faverolles the best??? Only have 1 but she is the funniest little thing. I searched far and wide around my home town to find my sweet Adelyne. She was worth it!
So far yeah I'm really enjoying the little puff butts. These are my first ones I hatched them from shipped eggs. Got two little girls and a boy so fingers crossed I can have more. The roosters are absolutely adorable btw and so far the least roostery one I've ever seen. Yep I'm a fan. :)

My chickens love me when they see I have bread!

I have a similar problem with my Blue Cochin. She runs away when I even lean towards her! Meanwhile my other hens beg for my attention. They're about 3 months old. I raised her as a day old and played with her often! The only time she'll sit with me is when I hold her in my lap away from the other chickens/coop. Can anyone help?

How cool! I'm thinking of trying to hatch my own when I get ready for more but I've never done it! And yes if I could have any roo all the salmon faverolle roo would be the one. I have read far more accounts of them (all my experience comes from reading-I'm a chronic researcher) being the ideal roo than any other breed! Not to mention not many are better looking than an SF roo!

Don't feel silly. As I mentioned before I did just this earlier tonight when I put my girls to bed. I literally petted each and said good night! Btelw I hate you are having to get rid of him! That just seems unfair!
