They certainly have been! I used a few old paintings on masonite to box them in and prevent (any more) litter from going everywhere. Working pretty well so far! Now if only they'd figure out the little perch-waterer I got them.... Hmm.

Welcome Congrats on your new babies Cardboard or tarp under the crate and pulled up the sides of the crate will help contain the fuzz balls and litter (for the most part) They grow fast, hopefully you have a coop ready

My chickens arrived today!!! OMG!
I already have a small problem with them getting out of the wire kennel I'm using for a brooder. Apparently mine can get some air time at two or three days old!!! I didn't expect that to be a problem for while.

I ordered from McMurray, and let me tell you, I'm very impressed so far! They're all active baby chicks, no obvious problems, and all of them survived the trip. I'm amazed. I had planned for one or two deaths, but I'm glad for that to not be a problem. Several of them are active to the point of being slightly annoying, which is a terrific surprise. I'm in southern Louisiana, and the shipping was taking longer than expected from IA. I really was worried.

What breeds you got there?

WELL, I got a lot of different breeds lol. I'm pretty sure the colors are mostly in the browish/partridge range.

I got four Crevecoeurs, three pulls one roo. I plan on breeding for heat tolerance and intelligence+size. Apparently they originally had a very large breast and terrific meat to bone ratio.
I have one columbian wyandotte lady. I have two blue cochins (they're both beautiful), two whiting blues, two whiting greens, three ameraucanas, one australorp and a mystery chick!
I'm pretty sure my mystery chick is this one and she's a RIR. But I could be wrong.
