Try a hanging feeder - even if you have it low or set on blocks for the chickens if you can hang the top it will keep them from knocking it over. If you hang the feeder level with the shoulders of your smallest chicken then they can feed just fine and won't waste feed by scratching or billing it out.

If a bowl is all you have, can you use a wire to secure it to something in the pen like the fencing or the coop, etc?

Only other thing I can think of if you have a bowl is to set it down in something - like maybe surround it with bricks, etc so they can't knock it over.

I feed mine in flat bottomed ash trays. They can't knock them over. Also if you put a smaller tray inside a larger one then the larger one catches some of the spillage. OOPs guess I was thinking chicks, not chickens. Sorry

If the feeder is big enough, could you put a heavy stone in the middle? I have also dug my outdoor "slop pan" into the dirt just a bit. Sometimes they knock dirt into it, but I just tip it over, tap it to empty it, and put it back in it's "nest." Inside the coop, I use piglet feeders as they hold about 3 big coffee cans of food and NEVER clog up or spill. You hang them on the wall and they are kind of compact, saving alot of floor space. Not much "beak room" though (the trough is only about 8 or 10 inches wide) so you may need to buy more than one. My gals seem to take turns at the feeder pretty well, and I usually have some feed available outdoors in the run if the weather is dry. Good luck!
