My Chickens Killed a Cardinal

Mine see off pheasants, magpies and collared doves. These guys have learned there is no free food in my chicken run.

Unfortunately they are not brave enough to teach the cat a lesson ... YET

Mine were out free ranging one day when a small squirrel made it's way down the trunk of a tree near them. My cochins took off after him and chased him until he found another tree to run up. I couldn't believe it.

My three girls chase doves and pigeons, but as yet, I'm glad to report none of them have actually fallen prey. I don't think my BO, in particular, would know what to do even if she caught one... she just likes the chase!

Wow, that's really interesting! I've seen mine eat frogs & small rodents but it just never occurred to me that they'd grab a bird. Protein is protein, I guess, from their point of view.

My little blue andalusian chases after one of my cats, but only the cat that's the same color as her. They're both that beautiful mottled blue-grey. Silly chicken. --She's my youngest chicken too!!!!

Poor kitty can't catch a break. My chickens free-range all day.
