Ok so I have a chicken named corn chip and she got attacked about 3-4 days ago I think me and my mom have I almost $100 worth of medicine I still think we need to take her to the vet but my mom says we don't have the money for probably 200$ or more care for them to do the same thing as us so where doing it at home her leg to her hip is ripped off but the bone is still there and there's a green spot on her hip to chest area we've been doing as much research as we can her leg was gone after day 1 but now rotting and there's maggots we used hydrogen peroxide and washed her leg with water and I thought we got most of the maggots off of her but they still a whole infestation on it we started cutting some feathers off from the area so it would be easier to see my mom saying the maggots are good cuz that means they're eating the dead skin off of her but it's still nasty smelly to see her leg like this she's barely eating or drinking is sleeping a lot more than she usually does it's so sad to see her like this because she was such an active bird my mom thinks because she was trying to explore in the woods and we had to get her back home that she attracted something because of her scent she's still trying to hop around.... what do we do?
Here's a picture btw (the day it happend)
Edit: I got a recent picture of it

Most maggots will do more harm than good, unfortunately. There are kinds which only clean the wound, but many kinds will eat healthy flesh. The green patch sounds very concerning, as does the nasty smell.
You have a very plucky chicken to have managed to get home after her injury. With this attitude, she may pull through. However, even with help from a vet, survival is not guaranteed. When you cannot afford a vet, I believe the comfort of the bird is the most important thing. Keep her in a comfortably warm place, with low light levels. Keep her as dry and clean as you can without disturbing her sleep. Offer her water when she wakes.

Thank u I'm scared if the maggots are helping us or not to.. I tried telling my mom to take her to the vet but she doesn't want to spend "a 1000 dollars on a chicken becuz there probably going to do the same thing where doing now" I think we need to cut off her whole leg

I understand your moms opinion on spending so much on a vet bill for a chicken. Some are willing to do it, but a lot of people will not. I am in the camp that if I can't fix it myself, I'll have to cull the bird. Do whatever you can to keep the infection at bay, but the stress and pain of cutting off the leg might kill her. If you want to keep trying, make sure she's dry, warm, and keep the maggots off. The rotting smell is decaying flesh. That's the most important thing to get under control. Unfortunately, if she's in a lot of pain, and you can't control the infection, the most humane thing to do is cull her. It's hard to decide, but if she's slowly, and painfully dying, culling is the best option. Good luck and keep us posted of her condition.

poor poor chicken. She must be in terrible pain.

I found this thread with aspirin dosing instructions. Please give her some pain relief.

Can you cut off the dead flesh, Rinse off ALL the maggots and fly eggs, clean it up, apply antibiotic cream and put a dressing on it, with vetwrap over the top. Leave for 3 days and then redress making sure it is clean, but don't rub off any healing flesh or scabs.
