My Chickens won't sit on the roost at night. Normal?

Hi,
I'm new to backyard chickens and have 3 Light Bramah birds approx between 7-8 weeks old. At what age do they start roosting instead of laying on the floor.

I don't think mine did until they were around 12 weeks.

I had New Hampshire Reds that slept in a pile on the floor until they started laying. All the other, older chickens roosted in the same coop, copying behavior wasn't part of it.

Mine puppy piled until 17 weeks or so then 2 of em started to roost. Guess the other 2 started to roost when they got tired of being pooped on several weeks later.
