Congrats on your flock! Is the bird the same one in all 3 of those pictures? If so, Bertha may be a Bert instead.

Thank you and yes, it is the same bird. BUT this is a sex-linked breed so there should be no chance of Bertha being a cockerel.

Hmmm... Maybe I am wrong then. It won't be the first time. It was just the redness in the face and the little wattles made me think male. Apologies! I still think your flock is precious! I have 16 chickens and 7 ducks. I love the birds and their quirky personalities.

Lol, thank you for the compliments! I'm not the best at identifying most breeds of chickens as a pullet or cockerel myself, so I just got these chickens because of their extremely high sexing accuracy rate. My first group of 6 Rhode Island Red "pullets" ended up being 3 roosters and 3 hens, sadly.

Oh wow! That is my luck with ducks lol! I picked out 6 ducks and 4 were male and 2 were female. Then a duck hen that was given to us decided she wanted to be a momma so I let her hatch out a small clutch. 4 males and only 1 female.
