No chicks tonight unfortunately! Hopefully they spend the night somewhere safe and quiet so they don't get too stressed out. I expect they'll probably come sometime in the morning, but it makes me feel better knowing that the post office knows I'm expecting them and to call me.

Getting chicks is so exciting, and yet stressful! I'm getting some in a couple weeks, and I'm already worried. I think the post office handles them with care; last year, the delivery woman wanted to know all about the chirping package!

Got the chicks bright and early at seven this morning! They let me into the post office before it officially opened to pick them up.

I did unfortunately have one DOA in my box, looks like a little blond Polish chick so that was a bummer. My dad was looking forward to getting some kind of crested breed and that looks like the only one of that type that we got. I contacted the hatchery and let them know and they want a status update on Sunday to see if I lose any more. They are going to give me the option to get a refund or reorder at that time.

In the meantime, here are the other babies! It's a rare breed assortment so I'm not sure what I got, but I think two of them might be a Black Jersey Giant and a Dominique. I also got an Olive Egger as my Meyer Meal Maker and I suspect it might be the tiny black one, looks like it might have some Marans in it. Not really sure on the two gray girls, there are SO many blue-based breeds!

Beautiful girls! Didn't get any new pics of the runt since she's under the heater and I don't want to stress her out too much. I try to only take them out if they're actively exploring in the brooder.

I actually had a silver polish that was DOA yesterday so maybe that breed’s just not as strong or maybe it was just something else. Your chicks are very pretty and hope the rest stay happy and healthy!
