Hello, I am from Niles, Michigan and my city has ordinances for chickens. I got a notice today that I have to remove my chickens and file for a permit. But it says my property does not fit the guidelines for having chickens. They are in a run and have a brand new coop. It doesn’t say why but I’m sure it’s because they are not 100ft away from the alley behind our property. I have them strictly for egg production for my family. They are only 7 weeks old right now and we just love watching them! I heard there is a homestead law that protects us from city ordinances. I seen a post on here about it but the links error out. Anyone from this area or know more about the Michigan laws? Any help is appreciated, thank you!!
