my chicks are terrified..

My girls are 9 to 10 weeks old and have become quite sociable compared to the first 6 weeks that we had them. They aren't lap chickens but they run to the side door of their run when they see any of us.

As others have pointed out. Pick them up every day. When some of the WL chicks settle down it is hard to get them to get off of your hand and back into the brooder.

My chicks are only 4 weeks old- but they only just recently started "liking" me. Every day I pick them up one by one and hold them for 15-20 min. each. I also give them treats and food out of my hand. I say, "chick chick chick!" when I come in the room with a treat. Hopefully some day they'll come running to me as soon as they hear me say "chick chick chick" regardless of if I Have food in my hands or not.

The BEST chicken mommy moment for me so far was when I took them outside for the first time. Omlit (one of our more curious ones) looked up at me while I was sitting in a chair and she was in the grass. She bent down her little knees and lept with all of her little power fluttering her little wings and crash landed on my lap- where she stayed for about 10 minutes letting me hold her and pet her. Then she wanted to get back down and explore again.

It'll happen for you. Just be kind to them and they'll grow to know you.
