I have Polish chicks, and one has been very sick. Then today, I noticed a bone sticking out of its back, and that was probably why it was sick. She's always been somewhat fragile, but right now she's much more fragile than before. I don't know what to do about the bone, and I'm trying not to touch it so I don't hurt her any more, I'm really worried about her. Please reply if anybody knows about the bone or what to do. I don't know if some chicks are just born that way sometimes, and I'm sure no people here hurt her, she might have fell, or a bigger chicken my have stepped on her. Thanks!

Well, I actually don't have any anyway. I will take some though, and I'll make sure to post them, but for now, I'll just tell you that it is a small white stub coming out around its lower back. It doesn't look as if it would be puncturing the skin, but I can definitely tell it's not supposed to be there.

Ok personally i would take it to the veterinarian. They would probly know what to do and fix it to avoid more problems, but that could lead to big vet bills. So is it sticking out of the skin? Like it pierced the skin or is it inside?

Well, I'm not sure if it's any use taking her to the vet, she probably won't make it. We have kept her in a bin with sand, water, and food and left a heater on so its warm. Yes, the bone is puncturing the skin.
One thing that worries me a lot is how inactive she is. She will wake up and then peep around a little bit, but then she just leans over and sleeps some more. I have this "sugar water" for chicks, and it's supposed to give her more energy, but it's not helping to much. I hate to say it, but it's a slim chance she'll make it.
