Cute little puff balls!!!!!!

My feed store is a small family owned shop (i.e., not TSC), so luckily that take in chicks/ducklings in small batches and take really good care of them. Always have water, always look happy. I'd be so mad if I saw some somewhere with no water!!![/quote]

Yes!! And I kindly mentioned it to the employee and they get so offended and defensive but my conscious wouldn't let me leave without kindly letting them know about the water

This week's photo update. The older babes are looking less like little fuzzballs and more like tiny velociraptors!

Claudia the Barred Plymouth Rock. Far and away, my friendliest chick. She's really just not satisfied with life unless she's on my shoulder, nestling within my hair. She will pace back and forth excitedly and actually leap at the walls of the brooder trying to jump onto me.

Donna the Delaware. Not as outgoing as Claudia, but the only other one prone to calmly jumping onto my hand to get the best angle at the treats sitting in my other hand. She was so small when I got her, and it's fun to see her catch up in size to some of the other larger girls.

Ainsley the Easter Egger. I still can't help but think she is the prettiest of my chicks. Her feathers are coming in this amazing auburn/strawberry blonde laced pattern. She doesn't like to be held, but tolerates me okay if I grab her. She's a big fan of sunning herself in the rays that enter the brooder from a nearby window.

Amelia the Easter Egger. Still my largest girl and the one I'm most worried about being a cockerel, but her barred auburn feathers seem to be coming in pretty even so far, and her comb hasn't exploded yet. She prefers not to be handled, but still happily pecks treats out of my hands.

Josephine the Black Sex Link. Still the smallest of the 3-week-olds and the least feathered in, she's my little feral baby, as she screams the loudest and somehow always manages to wriggle out and flap her little wings like crazy when I hold her. But that's okay; she does the funniest antics.

Zoey the Speckled Sussex. The young "caboose" of my crew that I picked up a week later than the initial five chicks when she was the only one left in the stock tank at the feed store. She's still wary of me but is pretty calm when I hold her. With enough head scratches, she blinks her eyes contently.

Okay here's another update!!! This time not only with today's pictures, but showing their growth progress over the past few weeks. It's so amazing to see how quickly and how much they've changed!

Odds are looking mildly good that I have all pullets, although the slightly darker red patches on Ainsley might be an early roo sign in an easter egger.... We shall see!
