Can some computer people help me? My computer has gone crazy. It says there is a virus and it wants me to clean it out but I am scared I'm gonna break my computer if I do anything. Let me add that I know nothing about computers and I have no type of spyware stuff.

Here is what keeps popping up, along with a bunch of random ads and the Internet Explorer keeps shutting down for no reason.

Thanks for any help!

wow your comp is sick. I would get rid of them NOW!!! Also clean out your cookies they can have alot of viruses too. I dont have that type antivirus, but it shouldn't hurt your comp. they viruses could do worse. I know i lost 1 computer to them . They can also steal alot of personal data and passwords like this forums.

Is this virus thing ok to use? I have no idea where they came from and have seemed to installed themselves onto my computer all on their own!

this reminds me "Run scan on computer tonight." I work on like 5 computes 2 of them got viruses on them. One is now only working half way. the other was a busness computer with all the important data on it. But we were able to fix that one.

Are these pop ups or is that the program you use for virus protection?

Sometimes a computer will get a trojan or a spyware infection. These cause endless pop ups to manifest your system. Basically what that looks like is an ad to get you to buy their product. While you may have an infection, these things just generally try to scare you to get business.

What antivirus software are you using? I use Trend for my laptop and my parents use MacAfee. I would run whatever program you are using and I would also download a program called C rapCleaner (Remove the space after the C). It is a free program you can get via the internet. Just google it. I would also recommend downloading a program called AdAware. This will take care of spyware.

After you do all this, I would go into your control panel and defrag the computer. You might need to get your parents to help with that. That will help the computer to run better, and will deleted corrupted files.

Also, Windows usually comes with a protection software. You could set up automatic virus scans and adjust your firewall to reduce threats and pop ups.

Let me know if I could help you with anything else! I would definitely back up your system if you are getting pop ups though. Sometimes the only way to get rid of trojans and viruses is by wiping the computer clean and starting over. I had to do this a few years ago. I've been super careful since.
