My coop is 9' by 5'

9x5 is 45 square feet. Going by the recommended space per bird which is 4 square feet for bantam birds, you could probably house 10 birds if you allowed them a run or time outside of the coop. To keep them comfortable, I would only keep around 6 or 7 depending on the breed.

If everything goes well with 4 or 5, you can add 1, then another 1, until you feel you've reached the maximum level of comfy for all.
