THX Pro24, I appreciate the positive feed back!

Even after hurting my arm on Thursday night moving 18x18" PATIO stones, (nothing serious, just strained it) my wife and I still got the rest of the wire up today. > We took Friday off, needed some supplies and to give my arm a rest.

Once we got the bottom 3 feet up, I had to them out. We put the wire 6 foot high. We still need to enclose the top (hawks, owls and eagles) and do roof part way for shade, rain protection.

I plan to build some things for them to climb all over, perhaps A-frame roosts made out of these pine logs/branches.

HI ALL, been a few months... Been a very busy summer and it's almost over. I'm getting ready for the hunting season and winter here, but here's a bit of an UPDATE!

Thx for looking... My birds are 4 months old now!


Here's ROO ROO #1 A White Rock Rooster! He's the boss of the yard, for now... I got a half dozen roos or so (6-8) in my spring order.

Here's another rooster. I call this one ROO ROO #2. I believe he is a Columbian Wyandotte.

The hens seem fine they have a pecking order some of my friendly chickens seem to be on the bottom of the order when dealing with other chickens. My Speckled Sussex (all called Sally Sussex) are sweet, calm birds the rest only bother with me if I'm feeding them treats for the most part.

As you can see in the picture I made a 12 foot roof for shade in the 22x24 run. I also added a 450 foot grass run to it. I included two pictures showing reverse angles.

No losses due to predator in my first summer of chicken keeping despite having to cull the odd bird for various reasons it has been a blast... I love having chickens, I'm kind of sorry I waited so long to try them.

that is amazing! What a transformation on your out building to coop! FYI- there is a roofing product called Ondura that you can lay right on top of your old roof. It looks like corrugated metal sheeting, but instead it's tar composite, but has a long life on it. AND... it's cheap!

Your run is amazing! So big- totally love it and love the grass area they get, too. Question- did you dig down those 4X4 main posts into the ground, or are they set above the ground? I tried to figure out what they were setting in (metal??). I'm not quite to the run part of my coop build, but I do LOVE the way your run looks and it seems that your wire screwed very nicely onto it.
