My Coop Project (Pic Heavy)

I just got out and took a few more pics! I have painted 3 coats on the trim, but nothing on the siding. that is tomorrows job, after fishing of course!

Here is a shot from the front:

Here is a shot of the back:

Here is a shot at the side with the nest boxes:

This is a shot at the roosts:

This is one of the New Hampshire Reds giving herself a dirt bath!

This is a close up of the hasp rig that I did to hold the chicken door open during the day. Sort of a dual purpose hardware, it keeps the door open durig the day, and then at night it is used for exactly what a hasp is for, to secure the coop.

Again, thank you all for looking, I hope that this post will help you in future endeavors!! i will be posting more pics as I get it painted and do the landscaping. Stay tuned.

You did a great job. That coop looks great! Are you going to build an attached run also?

Wow. That's better looking than a lot of homes I've seen. I don't know what color you're planning on painting it, but the current color looks really good with the white trim.

Great job!

I like the practicality of it a lot! Excellent work!

Thank you! No, I will not be building a run. I really do not want to cage my birds in. Watching them work the yard for bugs and weeds is part of the reason we got chickens. I understand that people have to do runs, but it is not what I want for my birds.

I appreciate the comments that are being made. I am painting the exterior today. Very happy about this. The only other thing is gutters, but that is not a necessity at this point.

I also wanted to tell you all about the venting. Obviously, the windows do not open. There is a ridge vent the entire 8 feet of the roof ridge. Also, the rafters are all wide open with 1/4 inch hardwire cloth nailed to the undersides of the soffit. I will take photos of this and post later.

I'm jealous. Wish I could let mine run free to do the yard work, but they wouldn't last a week up here in the mountains. Watched my neighbor's vanish in a matter of days.
