I took one but the flash is annoying.. I have 17 pips! one has zipped. I can hear cheeping!! I need to call in sick tomorrow cause I'll be up all night long...
It's the farthest back egg just next to the flashlight beam. I am taking pics through the acrylic side of the Brinsea incubator.
I put an old thin blanket floded, for the floor bottom, as per JJ's advice. I don't have enough paper towels but I do have a lot of old towels. I also don't have a quail waterer but I saw on smallbluejellybean's pics she filled a chick waterer bottom with marbles. I put a cap on the top.
quail brooder with the lid on. It has hardware cloth inserted after I jigsawed the middle out. Hubby is helping because he can't wait to see the quails. We ziptied the hardware cloth onto the lid and then I trimmed it with Gorrilla tape.
Everything in working order. It's a 90 gallon Sterilite tub. i washed it out with bleach solution and dried it before getting everything together. you never know what freak in wal mart touched it with their dirty- freaky small hands.....
Yea, I put a thermometer in there and it said 92 degrees...so i put the light on the screen and its now 101.. So anyway when they get around to hatching I'll be able to see how they like the new setup!
Watch That Brinsea--- 60 % Humidity With A Fan That Blows 24/7 May Cause Slow Hatchers To Get Dried Out And "shrink Wrapped" By The Egg Membranes.... Keep A Wither Eye On Them. Bolster The Humidity If You Can--- Wet Down A Clean Dish Sponge With Warm Water And Slide It In There With Them To Help Increase Humidity If You Have To....
Congrats And I'll Tell The Girls They're Mommas............... Agin.
Chick number one! Of course, after talking to shelly i helped the zipped chick out. He was kinda dry. JJ told me to get a sponge or someting in there to block the fan from dying out the eggs.. we came up with sticking a maxi pad on the lid to block the fan and I also put water on the pad.... Yet another use for them lol
Overeazypls, how exciting.
I love when they hatch. You just can't take your eyes off the eggs for hours.
I think it is great when people post their hatchings with photos on here, its like your with them watching the cute little things comming into the world.
I am so excited for you and could you keep us updated on their progress? I would love to see how they grow.
P.S. I had to unzip a few of my chicks because of a drop in humidity. Will try the maxi pad thing with this next lot I have in the incubator. Sounds like a great idea. Also for fun you can pop in your brooder a couple of cardboard toilet rolls, my chicks loved to run in them. I flattened one side so they wouldn't roll around.
