My cousin is afraid to eat fresh eggs

I have the opposite problem my SIL will only eat the green eggs. She picks through the cartons and only takes the green. Now my MIL is the aventureous one she eats duck eggs, goose eggs and is waiting for turkey eggs. The only time she eats chicken eggs is when shes out of the others. lol

I don't understand some peoples phobias with fresh homegrown food, makes you wonder how they ever managed to get through a day, with being so dang dumb. I like the part where he likes the eggs driven around, and people wonder why we laugh at Idiots, no offense just a fact.

I think it's because it's too close to the source. In the store, everything is "pretty" - no bugs, no off colors or misshapen items, no poop, and the meat is all nicely packaged without looking like a real chicken/cow/pig, etc. Sometimes, especially after I find a worm in my organically grown broccoli after it's been cooked (that I thought I thoroughly washed and checked

), or aphids on my garden grown lettuce salad (that I also thought I had thoroughly washed) the store ones seem so appealing. But, I love knowing that my garden produce is free from pesticides and any other chemicals, and I love being able to eat it within minutes of being picked, so it's worth the worms, aphids, and ugly chew marks in the swiss chard, and poop on the chicken eggs

And the taste....nothing compares!

My family won't eat my ducks eggs. They first say duck eggs taste bad, when I tell them that I've heard they taste great (ive never tried any myself) they say they don't want eggs from my ducks because they'd taste bad (They think they need to be fed special foods to have tasty eggs

) and because they come out of their butts.

I wonder what would happen to people like that if society came crashing down. They would be screwed

My older daughter won't eat the eggs either . She dated this boy who's father bought eggs from a farmer's market He would cook omelettes for them sometimes and fling out the little beaks that were sometimes in the eggs

She was SO grossed out by this . Today a decade + later- only store bought white eggs go on her plate.
I always hated that boyfriend.........................

Texas Joe, you mean WHEN society comes crashing down, not IF . . .

Interesting thoughts from all of you. You are right about the "pretty" factor in the grocery store, though now that my hens are laying, I can't think of anything prettier than that moment I put the 12th egg in a carton, and it's so beautiful, all the different shades of brown. Each egg is a wonder. It's absolute perfection, or as the poet Peter McWilliams says, "Perfectly imperfect."

My hubby and I are really missing our fresh eggs!

Our girls stopped laying about 4 weeks ago and we had to break down and buy some. We got the cage-free eggs but I just can't bring my self to eat them! I made some for the kids the other day, DD wouldn't touch them because they were too white to be scrambled eggs. I tried a tiny piece and it had no taste. My SIL and brother won't eat our fresh eggs, she too said she wants hers pasteurized...lol. I have to admit, the thought of eating eggs from someone else's chickens is gross to me too....lol..a friend of mine's mom has free range delawares and I just can't eat their eggs! Maybe it is because they don;t keep theirs as clean as I do? I dunno, but I want my eggs back!
