My cousin's kids count as "pests", right?

The thing about kids is, when you are a decent parent & are consistent in your parenting, they tend to NOT be brats. Some kids are bad no matter what, but really, it all comes down to the kids knowing that "Mom & Dad will punish me, swiftly, if I do X Y Z."

As far as the OP goes- I have zero qualms about telling anyone's children how they are to behave at my house and around my animals. That includes mine, yours, his, and hers too.

family is great--

My house, my rules, just like my mama raised me!
Best story: Last summer the 5 yr old grandson with mild autism ( which to his mom means he gets away with everything) starts walking along the edge of the pool- despite known rule that you don't go near it without a grownup.
I yelled.
Knowing he is "caught", boy turns reluctantly to return to us. His uncle, who was about to run to retrieve his nephew, goes the other way. "Why " asks his bride, "aren't you getting him?"
"Mom yelled. I'm getting out of here!" He is 27.

No excuses. Mom always wins. If you win it's because I allowed it. That's the rules.

I would have strung them kids up somewhere....coat rack sounds good. Tell the parents to pick up the hooligans on the way out!! I would have had a fit. Got a neighbor who's kids is always in my coop, drives me crazy but she won't stop, gonna try the pad lock deal I believe.

Oh, my gosh! We must be related, that is so funny! It's always been like that in our house. Mom yells, everybody freezes, or runs the other way if they have any feelings of guilt for anything. And if you were at Mom's house, you fell under her rules, no matter who you were, and if you had the nerve to break a rule you were asked to leave. We have a fairly (

) well-behaved family because of it. I've inherited Mom's 'rulebook' and I wield it with pride (my iron fist isn't quite as hardened as I'd like yet, LOL)

LOL That DOES sound like my family! Only my father was the authoritarian, not my mother

At 5 and 7 it's the parents' fault. THese kids need to be taught manners and self control. If you want to see what a person is like, you can often look at a child. Kids like this do tend to be annoying yes, but some of the comments geared toward these kids on this thread are mean.

hahaha I had a hen laying a egg, and I said "Oooooohhh thats a sitting hen. You know what happens if you mess with her?" Lol and their eyes got huge and they shook their heads so I said "She gets reallly big, and growls, and she will fly at you and peck your hand" hahahahaha and they had nothing else to do with a chicken that was sitting down!

What I said was similar, but I said they like to aim for the face if you go near their chicks

I still don't trust my nieces and nephew around them though

My cousins are also terrified of any roosters of any size, not like I influenced that or anything XD
