My dad almost killed my chicken! Overheated? what to do?

Grapes and raisins both are bad for dogs, they hurt their kidneys so you wouldn't see anything right away. I worked in an animal hospital for 3 years and saw a dog with kidney damage from eating grapes.

I am so glad she is ok! Sorry about the grape thing, I couldn't think straigt at first I was so tired. Then I remembered it was dogs!

I have a good friend that is a vet-he said grapes are toxic for dogs.

Yes grapes, raisins, and chocolate are toxic to dogs!! I think chocolate is even bad for chickens. Google toxic food for dogs and you should find a list of things not to feed your dogs!

use a spray bottle to spray the under sides of her wings and her face and breast with cold water. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET HER TOO WET! she could go from heatstroke to hypothermia if that happens! also, just make sure she has enough shade to rest in. I hope she gets better soon!

Dear Autumn Breeze... I am so very glad YOU pulled your baby from the heat soon enough, May I pull you aside for one moment?
Your Dad is probably having memory issues @ this age. I'm sure you know this. He won't get the urgency of his actions, only the inflection of your voice. He is like a little chick now, and might not be able to handle the responsibilities he once did. Again I'm sure you've thought of this. I just needed to say it: as my Mom is in a similar state and can not do what she use to. She gets very frustrated and sad .
Sometimes my family is not as patient with her as they could be.
Glad your peepers are fine

This is why I waited overnight to "yell" at him. My type of yelling is VERY quiet though

He said he was switching switches and he didn't realize he turned on both of them. I forgave him and told him not to worry about closing up the chickens, that I would do it. But I did tell him I appreciate his trying to help.

There have been documented cases of dogs going into multiple organ failure after eating grapes. Some have died. They aren't sure what part of the grape causes the problem, and as you say, many dogs eat grapes and have not had problems. The current thinking (last I heard -things change so fast!) is that there is a chemical in some part of grapes that some dogs are sensitive to. You don't know until something happens, so general advice is to avoid giving grapes to dogs, just to be safe.

I, too, share almost any food I eat with my dogs and have never had any problem. But there are people who are fatally allergic to certian foods that most folks eat all the time. Guess it's the same with grapes and dogs.
