My Dad just reminded me.....grrrrrrrrrr

Yikes! I definitely can identify. My dad was clinically psychotic, I'm still smoothing out the scars at age 54: but he also brushed my hair, brought me treats, told me stories and kept my spelling trophy at hand for twenty years. That's the dad I choose to remember.

After 46 years of his waiting for you to turn into a boy you can tell him that after 46 years of waiting for him to turn into a grown up maybe you both should move on.......

I guess the very fact that I find above post funny and not disturbing points to the dysfunction in my own past.

Oh for the chance to say that...

blow him off as a senile old coot and move on.
I do not like miserable people who feel the need to make some one else miserable.

I agree with this statement. Last year I decided that I had to cut my mother out of my life because every time I talked to her I felt miserable. On rare occasions I feel a bit bad for doing so, but the change it has made on my outlook on life is amazing. Life is too short to live at the whim of people who seem to strive to make themselves feel better by attempting to make you feel miserable.

Oh! If only I had the nerve. Actually what I did tell him is that my SO has two girls, really wanted a boy but it didn't happen. He loves his two girls more than anything and wouldn't trade either one of them for all the male children in the world.

Issues with parents can be SO complicated.

I dearly love mine but have had my share of problems with my Dad. I know he loves me too but there will always be that part of him that wishes I was something I am not.
So I can relate for certain.

It's ultimately HIS fault that you were born female,. It's the father's sperm that determine the baby's sex.
