this makes me so sad! I love her!

she is drinking water and I just made up a mixture of Layena, pedialyte, some plain yogurt, and a half tsp of black strap molasses. if she'll eat, would this be a good combo?

I don't know how much more I can bear, my darling Audrey died (EE, only four months old), my Goffins cockatoo was killed by my black lab, and just last week I had to have my kitty put down. she had cancer and it had gotten really bad. I'm beginning to wonder if all this sadness is worth it.

for all your losses lately. I haven't had nearly as much going on here, but am definitely saddened by the prospect of losing a pet.

I think the layena, pedialyte and yogurt are great. The molasses does have carbs, but also will loosen up her droppings, which you might want to avoid.

Do you have any Penicillin G on hand? That might be a wise next step.

is penicillin G purchased at a farm supply store? for future reference. she looks very poorly and I fear she will not make the night. I hate this!

yes, you can get Pen G at the feed/farm store, and usually syringes and needles too. If this is her first bout with this, she would probably respond well to Pen G.

I don't know how to administer the Pen G. can anyone help me? PLEASE? I don't want to lose my girl! I'm afraid I will anyway, but I have to try!

wow! awesome article! thank you so much! I actually found a vet that will treat chickens here in CT and she has an appt. this afternoon. I know some people would say, "she's just a chicken" but I suspect not many people on BYC would say that. I love my chickens and she is one of two that gazes at me lovingly before she jumps up in my lap.

Be sure when you are at the vet to ask her to show you how to give an injection... tips etc (just in case) ...
My birds are also my pets. I hope she perks up soon.
