My darling girl Trixie is sick! help please?

k, so i found out my girl was egg bound. i did all the recommended stuff and it seemed to ease her before i went to bed. she perked up this morning when i checked on her and she was standing and taking food but didn't release her egg till sometime during the day. my dh didn't seem to notice it going on at all, and i found the broken blue/green egg in her crate when i got home from work. lots of poop too

are there any follow up stuff after being egg bound that i would have to do for her?

jeannieo, how long did the doc say you had to feed her like that? and did they say you needed to bring her back for a follow up at all? or is there some sort of sign they told you to look for to tell you she is back to being normal?

chickie's Moma~I don't have any experiece with this stuff. I've only had chickens a little over a year and they have been completely healthy until now! The doc didn't say how long to feed her like that but I don't want to if I'm the cause of the bleeding! I was going to call tomorrow and ask how long I should feed like that. I may have to bring her in again OMG she's squeaking and gurgling I think she is dying. she is crying. I have to go to her.​

Jeannie, I hope these posts were from before we talked on the phone. Is Trixie still bleeding, or did it stop? I was on a train when I talked with you, and it was very noisy. I thought you said the bleeding had stopped. I would be careful not to put the tube down her throat quite so far. The edge of the lavage tubing can be irritating. You only need to put the end of the tube far enough to be behind her tongue. Birds have their airways under the tongue, not in the throat like we do. If you are behind the tongue, you are far enough. Just let her rest tonight, which is what I think you were planning to do.

Has she shown any interest in eating on her own yet?
