My Delawares...they're all grown up.

Thanks, Opa. You just remember to save a few open spots in your coop... 'cause it looks like I've got plenty more than I need to keep!

I only had 4 Delahorns to hatch, and I've got WAY more chicks than that with no black on them yet.

With my first hatch of Delawares, I ended up with 2 roos and 1 pullet. At about a week old, the pullet was showing lots of black in her wings, so I'm hoping that will hold true for this batch as well. We'll see!

Shelly,
I would say the first and the 3rd look like Delahorns to me, you can kind of tell by the tail, a sticky outy, pirky, (errect) fan type tail will be your delahorn, and with the Delaware, they kind of have a more of a ball type tail, with loose feathers on it.

Miss_jayne, do you have any pictures you can share?

Here's the low-down on the chicks!

I've still got all 15, outgrowing their brooder super fast, becoming little poop bombs!

They're all so super sweet and pretty calm considering their circumstances...those of you who have experienced the wrath of a 3 year old boy will understand this!

Anywho, I've basically given up on figuring out which ones are the Delahorns...I've surmised that it's pretty much impossible to do at this age. I do, however, have 4 (which is how many Delahorns hatched) that are completely white, not a speck of black on them anywhere! I've posted pics of them below.

I've also realized that only 3 chicks out of 15 have prominent combs, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way!

But here's the real kicker...the 3 chicks with the obvious combs are 3 of the 4 white ones! That isn't what I was hoping for!

Csibb, did any of yours look like these white ones at this age? I was thinking you said that all of yours had some black on them SOMEWHERE?

Hey Shelly,
The all white ones are the Delahorns, (all that i hatched out had some sort of black on them when they were in the fuzz, feathers come out white). mine are all white, one or 2 of them have a black spot on them but other then that all white they are!!
