My depression came back

I am 72 now and because of it, often forget to take my meds. It is NOT intentional BUT there are no noticeable side effects when this occurs. I have outlived my psychiatrist and his partner (both died of different cancers). I believe I should gradually reduce the dose because seniors don't require such high doses. I'll play it "by ear,".

Have you ever spoken to a psychiatrist about an alternative like ECT (electro-convulsive therapy)? That requires no medication.

My depression began at age 10 as I was a target for the neighborhood kids my age to bully me. It got worse by 2017 but when our cat gave birth to her 5th kitten(only one that year), it improved as I bonded with Nyx from the day she was born. Spooky always let me handle Nyx no matter what. Nyx is 2 yrs old now and I'm the only human she loves. She helps keep my mood up

Another update to say I had a rough spot during last week but I'm doing better this week. All I can say about last week is while out bike riding, I ran into one of my childhood bullies. Nothing good happened and I was a bit snappy towards my family for the rest of the week until this week.
